Best Maggie Greene Moment In S04E08: Too Far Gone.
Maggie had already had a rough time of it this season; it was literally the night before when she broke into A-Block and risked infection to save Glenn and her dad, but to lose her father the next day? And in the way that he was brutally killed in front of her and her sister? Devastating. Her and Beth both took up arms and fought back through their grief, and Maggie’s best moment in the episode comes with her just keeping her head during the entire battle sequence. She keeps Beth on task by using their father’s quote about them having jobs to do, evacuates Glenn to the escape bus even as people get shot all around her and the tank blows shit up, and when she learns Beth has headed off to get Judith, she takes charge because she too now has a job to do, and that’s protect her sister and keep fighting.
Unfortunately things get messy in the heat of battle and she jumps right back into the fray, but she still does not lose her head. When she, Bob and Sasha see the bus leave them, they move to follow and Maggie doesn’t let her worries over Glenn and Beth and her grief and all the chaos going down cloud her; she just keeps going, and doesn’t abandon the injured Bob and the still-sick Sasha. I’m imagining there’ll be some great moments of her coming to terms with her father’s death and the separation from Glenn and Beth the next time she has some calmer time, but for now I’m just again hella impressed with her badass fearlessness (Beth’s too!) in rolling with some of the heaviest punches she’s been dealt, just like always, which is totally like a boss.
